Lets get to the next weed with some powerful effects. This is part 2 of this blog post Health, Fist Aid, and Detox Weeds Part I. This is also an extension of the article on weeds found here- 3 Weeds You Should Cultivate.
I want to talk about Chickweed today. A nice thing about these herbs I am talking about is they are really weeds. Chickweed even grows quite abundantly here in the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada. In fact chickweed can be found abundantly growing across the mountains and is recognized as an abundant vegetation here in Nevada. I would also like to point out that usually when herbs are discussed they must be dried properly to work. This is not the case for chickweed, the herb can effectively be used fresh as it can dried.
The first great property of chickweed is its anti-histamine ability. However, you do not want to apply too much OTC anti-histamine to your body as it can have lasting negative effects. This is not the case with chickweed, and it can be used as often as you like. I think you will find you will not need to much of it to be effective. The great properties of chickweed come from the Saponins that are found in it.
For most of chickweed’s uses an oil of chickweed is best and is more all-purpose. Here is how you make a small portion:
Grind up some chickweed
place it in a jar that has a lid
cover with olive oil
keep in a warm spot and shake twice daily
strain oil from herb and discard the herb
In large portions combine 4 ounces of herb to 1 pint oil.
This oil works wonders on rashes, itching, bites, stings, eczema, psoriasis, hives, seborea, and also on hemorrhoids.
Chickweed also has healing and drawing properties. So this oil is okay on open wounds and works great. Apply directly on sores, boils, ulcers, skin eruptions, cuts, bruises, wounds and abscesses. This helps your wound heal by itself and allows a soothing effect to be placed on the area so you wont feel the need to mess with it.
By pressing the herb to get a juice from it makes for a miracle treatment for dandruff and scalp problems. But Sean you don’t have dandruff. Exactly
Lastly you can just straight eat chickweed in a great abundance. It has a few vitamins and minerals in it and tastes pretty good. Chickweed taken as food can help with sore throats, lung mucous, and soothe an upset stomach. Chickweed also has an expanding effect on the stomach while it also has a mild diuretic and laxative effect on the body. This makes it great to help in losing weight! Internally chickweed can be taken when inflammation is present to help reduce inflammation from the inside. An outside and inside approach is always more desirable.

As promised, my follow up to the hemorrhoids I had, and the review on the products I used for hemorrhoids from Dimmak Herbs Supplements . The post can be found here:
http://www.blogofherbs.com/herbs/hemorrhoids-my-2-day-quick-fix
I am pleased to report I am pain free from my bottom and feel much better. What I ended up doing was alternating the bolus dosage as 2-1-2-1-2-1-1, this kept a strong strength of herbs flowing, but alternating the higher dosage and extra discomfort throughout the time period. Honestly the biggest savior was VAINE balm by Dimmak Herbs. The ointment was huge in protecting the tissue, relieving the pain, and reducing inflammation. VAINE contains herbs that are targeted at veins and rebuilding them back to life: spider veins, varicose veins, and in my case hemorrhoids. VAINE also contains olive oil, bees wax, vitamin E oil, and Eucalyptus oil all of which have healing properties for skin and tissue!
Now, I did make a big mistake the night of my first blog about the hemorrhoids in that I wasn’t making sure my stool was going to be soft. I really re inflamed the area and had a bad night, that could have been prevented. It is key to drink lots of water and keep a soft stool and I have 2 more products to tell you about for these. REGULATOR by Dimmak Herbs would be a good product to have to take throughout the issue, take a small dose like 1 pill daily. In my case with bleeding internal Hemorrhoids Rhubarb is a great herb for this! Rhubarb, to me Da Huang, is the main ingredient in DEUCE by Dimmak Herbs. This special pill contains Rhubarb/Da Huang and a few other herbs then is dipped in bees wax. This allows the pill to pass through the stomach and be broken down in the small intestine for excellent results! With the healing power of bees wax and rhubarb, it would have helped the bleeding and softened the stool!
A few other things to remember in general about hemorrhoids. Keep them clean! have some witch hazel extract laying around. You will be able to do a ‘final wipe’ with the witch hazel which will clean the area and help the reduce the inflammation. Protect the tissue! If it can’t be irritated it goes away. Basically if you never had to poo you would have to deal with em much
Cover the tissue with VAINE, hemorrhoid creme, or at least some Vaseline. Don’t push hard! Think of your hemorrhoid as a balloon and your pushing as your lungs. If you get on the toilet and your face turns red, you are blowing up that balloon! This is where Fiber, Water, Suppositories, REGULATOR, DEUCE, or even an laxative (only if its really necessary)!

Some time ago, before herbalism entered my life
I acquired a nasty case of hemorrhoids that flared up during a 6 hour drive to Phoenix. I went to the local Walgreens or similar and picked me up some ointment and wipes. The ointment is basically a mixture of oils and jellys. This is to cover the inflamed tissue so that you feel better, and if the tissue isn’t being irritated, then they can shrink down in time. The wipes were full of Witch Hazel extract. Witch Hazel is an astringent that can help in shrinking hemorrhoids. Astringents work like you putting some lemon in your mouth. You will suck in your face and make a that puckering look. Same thing your trying to do with Hemorrhoids is suck them back in.
Lets shorten this story now. Basically that stuff i bought just helped me not shoot myself. When i got home i got on the internet and looked up some alternative information. I made a doctor appointment which was only a few days out. Until that time I took baths with a huge amount of Epsom Salt in them. This was a really good one, and i enjoyed that a bunch. When I got to the doctor, he didn’t really want anything to do with my situation and wrote me a prescription for some suppositories. After my 5 days of suppositories the hemorrhoids went away and i was better.
Years later and a few days ago I started getting a small sharp pain during the #2 process and there was blood in my stool. Well, blood in the stool can be from a various amount of things including internal hemorrhoids. Because of the sharp pain i was sure of the internal hemorrhoids, but could have something else so i took some Dimmak Clot Pills for bleeding. When some hemorrhoid pains came on I decided to take a real approach to the issue.
I went to the herb shelf and pulled out the herbs for the Dimmak Herbs Hemorrhoid Bolus. A Bolus is basically an herbal suppository, and i know that the last thing anyone wants to do is stick something up there butt. However, if or when you get hemorrhoids and feel that uncomfortable pain, I’m sure you will do what works. The bolus is a formula of ground herbs and bound in cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is a healing substance in itself, but also is solid at room temp, but will melt at over 98 degrees (your body temp).
The Dimmak Hemorrhoid Bolus contains herbs like: Witch Hazel, Bayberry, Goldenseal, Horse Chestnut, Comfrey, and Slippery Elm.
Witch Hazel is an astringent and we already discussed it earlier
Bayberry is also an astringent in its own case, but brings blood through the area to heal areas. Bayberry has an affinity for healing tissue and veins, you can probably see the connect here.
Goldenseal clears heat (anti-inflammatory) and also an astringent. Both of these are beneficial. In addition to these herbs, Goldenseal is an overall tonifyer of anything it touches, and happens to be able to contract blood vessels
Horse Chestnut is an anti-inflammatory and stops bleeding, im sure you see the connection there
Comfrey has cooling, soothing, cell regenerating, and nourishing properties
Slippery Elm is a binder that provides lubrication, cooling properties, and helps bind the bolus
All of this combined makes for a fine bolus. Each order comes with about 10 bolus’ and they are about .5-.75 thick and under an inch long. The dosage is 1-2 nightly as needed.
On to my specific story, night one was a full dose 2 bolus’. Simply take them and run them under hot water quickly and insert. Although a little uncomfortable at first (not because of the insertion, but because of foreign object in your colon) until it breaks down. I went to bed and instantly felt better the next day. I backed down to a single bolus application for the next 2 days. Now basically back to a small annoyance, which is great. I will continue a single bolus for another 3 days.
When you have hemorrhoids going to the bathroom is scary part of the day, feeling better fast is a great thing.
to be updated in 2-3 days….
Some more tips for hemorrhoids:
You MUST make sure you are regular with moist stools. Dimmakherbs has has REGULATOR and Deuce if you need assistance here.
If you have external hemorrhoids try to push them in after you go to the bathroom
Protect them! Dimmak Herbs VAINE is a better solution to ointments youll find down the street, that contains herbs to shrink and get rid of the hemorrhoid as well as protect them.
Avoid spicy and greasy foods during this terrible time in your life.
